Re: Help me identify this vee
Jason, The bodywork looks great! If you post more pics with the bodywork off the car, we can help you out some more. I am thinking what you have is a modified Zink, or a copy of one, with home made fiberglass. The rear bulkhead, known as a trapezoid, is very Zinky. There are two engine/tranny mounts...

Hmmm. For the $1000 fee paid for me to duplicate the tool, are you supplying the PVC?
Your answer will help me decide whether or not I proceed.

Re: Help me identify this vee
I did not notice the trapezoidal bulkhead in the bottom of the picture. That could be a Zink frame. If it is, it is heavily modified, with many tubes cut out and others welded in. I also made the assumption that transaxle was in the vee, and those stock shock mounts wouldn't work on a Zink. I now th...

Re: Help me identify this vee
Jason, your car is not a Zeitler.
I do not recognize it as any production built FV, but it is definitely not a Zeitler.
Sorry, that's all I can tell you other than it looks to be the widest FV I have ever seen.
Good luck with it.

Re: Monoposto rules changes, follow up
Just an observation regarding the rule changes implemented before last season.
In our club, VSCDA, we have seen no "newer" FV's in our grids.
All those D-13s, languishing in barns, yearning to come out and play in vintage, are still languishing.
Just saying.

32 Vees at Road America
We had 32 FV entrants at VSCDA's Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival last weekend. (9/17-20/15) 8 car lead pack with a different running order every lap. The weather during the days (Storms at night) was perfect. Tons of beautiful cars there for concours events, marque club gatherings and car shows. There...

"Suspect that's out of our price range for the desired task "
I agree. But because I brought up the subject and said I would get more details, I didn't want to leave readers hanging.
Oh well.

Re: Forged Pistons
These guys know of a shop that has done cylinders for Harleys for $275 ea.!
They "Think" the price would go down to about $100 ea for a bulk FV order.

There are some circle track fellas that have joined our vintage group, and they talk of an outfit that already does refurbish cylinders to bring them back to stock dimensions. I will do more research and get back to you all.

Some vintage guys have been talking about the possibility of having worn cylinder walls built up and then machined back out to size.
We can use cylinders indefinitely, without sleeves.
Opinions???

Monoposto rules changes
As of this month, March 2014, Monoposto has posted revised vintage FV rules. The most significant change being the change of the car design cutoff date being 1975. There are a few other changes as well. For details, please see http://monoposto.com/pdf%20Files/Rules/2014/2014%20FV%20Specification_Mar...

Not knowing what kind of research you've done already, I'm going to point out something you may already know. Replacing the swing axle rear with the IRS will require many more bits of suspension to support the hubs. If the hubs are not supported properly, the c-v joints will fail in a short amount o...

I'm sure Dietmar is setting you straight in a PM. For others, in case anyone is interested: No ground or Neg. wires go to any connection on the starter. The starter's neg side comes through the transmission or car's ground. Two wires go to the starter. Like Jim said earlier, the large wire (supply w...
